GCU Class of '84 condolences visitation

This is the story of Government College Ughelli, old boys association. The class of "84".

August 27th, 2020 was going well like every other day. During the usual interactions and jokes in the class WhatsApp platform, news of the death of Eugene Uwadia broke.

Everybody became sober and the class thrown into mourning and few days later his burial date announced by his family.

Few class mates made it to his burial.

In the early hours of Saturday the 17th of October, 2020 another class mate passed away.

Alex Ogwala's death was one too many. The class was devastated.

He was buried on 30th October, 2020.

The Fund Raising

After a brief online deliberation, a fund was raised to support the widows and children of  Alex and Eugene.

Even though classmates had been committed to multiple fund raising programs this year, the support, understanding, sacrifice and love among members of class of "84" made it happen.

The Visits

On Saturday, 19th of December, 2020, the class of "84" was divided into 2 groups for the special visits of the widows of fallen class mates.

The Chairman, Ifeanyi Mok led team A to visit the family of Eugene Uwadia in Asaba.

Edafe Shakaro, the class Secretary led team B to the family of Alex Ogwala in Ughelli, both in Delta state. 

They spent time together with their families, prayed and shared few words of encouragement. Later cheque leaflets were presented to their widows.
