DARE YOUR DREAM (DYD)

DARE YOUR DREAM is an Empowerment and Development program that comprise Counselling, Motivational Speeches, Inspiring Stories, Vocal Training and Skills Acquisition for Teenagers and Youths in Senior Secondary Schools, Universities or waiting to gain admission, Christains or Moslems and the Society at large. 

This platform will help teenagers and youth to discover their hidden creative talents and for those that have already discovered their passion, we will aid them to develop it and empower them to greater heights and basically help build them to have a mindset of positivity against whatever challenge life throws at them and imbibe enviable moral values of our African Culture and Tradition.

Growing up with a single mom, financial challenges and trying hard to discover myself as a young adult with so much potentials without compromising with the difficulties life throws at me everyday is the reason I established DARE YOUR DREAM so that I can help young ones become who they really have to be in future.

DARE YOUR DREAM is a platform that helps young people learn how to create their own jobs in future by harnessing their creative talents, providing vocational training and helping them learn any particular skill of their choice. Transforming them from dependency to independency.

With DARE YOUR DREAM, young people will no longer have time for negative activities but helps them toe only the positive path.

We have seen that the good moral values that our African Culture and our Parents upheld are fast eroding due to the wrong use of Western Civilization.
What we see is an unprecedented level of moral depravity and all forms of vices. 

The unfortunate but sad reality is that these young people are too naive to see that this period is the prime of their lives where a proper foundation needs to be laid for a better future. 

This is made worse due to issues such as poor parentage, broken homes, parental neglect, deceased parents, extreme poverty, wrong association etc.

However, the hidden truth is that they have a lot of potentials and God given abilities that are untapped and in most cases, even they do not know they possess these abilities.

Some of the vices we are working hard to eradicate are:

Drug abuse

Unwanted pregnancy

Premarital sex

Prostitution

Addiction

Cyber crime

Suicidal tendencies

Rape 

Homosexuality 

 and so much more.

Our strategy is laid out with the following approach: 

PAYING ATTENTION: 

Many young people go through all manner of experiences or challenges which most of them are either too shy or ashamed to talk about because of fear of criticism and stigmatization. It is an open secret that most young people do not form the kind of bond necessary for them to be completely open to their parents or guardians on the challenges they are facing and as a result, they often look for confidants in wrong people and places.  

We will ensure we give them a listening ear, provide wise counsel and help them become the best among their peers.

MOTIVATE: 

We will motivate them by giving motivational talk, building their self-confidence and encouraging them to dream and guide them in pursuing their dreams. We will teach them the importance of making decisions and taking responsibilities for their actions early in life.

CAPACITY BUILDING: 

We will provide various platforms for the discovery of their talents, skills acquisition and vocational training after which they will be taught how to commercialize these skills and earn a living for themselves. This leads to self-dependency and job creation, which in turn improves their lives and the economy as well.

INSPIRE: 

We will expose them to some successful career professionals and entrepreneurs so as to inspire them to be successful as well.

ENCOURAGEMENT:

Life is not a bed of roses. We will teach them the mental toughness needed to overcome daily challenges and let them know that "Tough times never last but tough people do".

Research has shown that teenagers in Nigeria can achieve their dreams and even accomplish the impossible if they are guided to pursue it, put in more effort, have the will power, stay focused and having God on their side. This is the kind of mindset DARE YOUR DREAM intends to create and so much more.

ABOUT KEMI BLESSING OWOJU:

Kemi is a young selfless goal oriented lady with passion to help young people succeed.

She had her primary education at Faith Nursery & Primary School, Apapa. 

She proceeded to Aguda Grammar School after which she gained admission into the Universiry of Lagos and obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work in 2015.
